Model Sends Southampton, New York, Estate to Auction – Mansion Global

On the East End of New York’s Long Island, a fully furnished Hamptons estate is headed under the hammer.
Perched on a hill in Southampton one of the tony villages that comprises the affluent enclave that’s a long-favored weekend and summer destination of wealthy New Yorkers, the property will be auctioned off live with no reserve on Sept. 21 through Heritage Auctions.

The gated 2.3-acre estate has asked as much as $7.5 million in the past and is currently available to purchase outright for a hair under $5 million, listing records show.
The spread is being sold by Maria Kimberly, an actress and model who was active in the late 1960s and early 1970s, according to records with PropertyShark, which show her ownership is through a trust.
It’s not clear when Ms. Kimberly and her late husband, real estate mogul and lawyer Jay Landesman, acquired the property or how much they paid. She could not be reached for comment.
“The estate and grounds are impeccable,” Nate Schar, director of luxury real estate for Heritage Auctions, said in a statement. “It’s absolutely turn-key, and offered with the finest furnishings and luxury amenities, down to the silk napkins.”
The estate will be sold with nearly $2 million worth of furnishings, including custom pieces and imported antiques selected specifically for the home, according to the auction house.
Spanning 5,500 square feet, the lavish compound boasts features including a double-height entry, a sweeping staircase and a formal living room with high ceilings, a fireplace and crisp molding, the listing said.
There’s also a first-floor primary bedroom suite, an eat-in kitchen and terraces. Outside, the lush grounds are outfitted with a pool, an accompanying pool house and a private guest cottage.
“The home is a great hideaway for people looking for an elegant and playful space to relax away from [the] city. Though it feels remote, it’s just minutes to Southampton Village,” Mr. Schar said. “The house has rarely been used and is in impeccable condition. Most of the bedrooms have never even been slept in.”
